AccuNeb (albuterol sulfate inhalation solution) is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in patients 2 to 12 years of age with reversible obstructive airway disease. It is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm. This medication is a bronchodilator. This medication is available in generic form. Common side effects include headache, dizziness, nervousness, sleep problems (insomnia), cough, hoarseness, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, dry mouth and throat, muscle pain, or diarrhea.

The usual starting dosage of AccuNeb for patients 2 to 12 years of age is 1.25 mg or 0.63 mg administered 3 or 4 times daily, as needed, by nebulization. AccuNeb may interact with diuretics (water pills), digoxin, beta-blockers, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors (MAOIs), or other bronchodilators. Tell your doctor all medications you are taking. AccuNeb should only be used during pregnancy if prescribed. This medication may be harmful to a fetus. It is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
