Bionect (hyaluronic acid sodium salt) cream and gel are composed of a biological polysaccharide and are indicated for the dressing and management of partial to full thickness dermal ulcers (pressure sores, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers), wounds including cuts, abrasions, donor sites, and is intended to cover a wound or burn on a patient's skin, and protect against abrasion, friction, and dryness. All suspected adverse reactions or side effects that occur during treatment with Bionect should be reported to a doctor. A side effect that may occur is sensitization to the drug.
Bionect is available as a cream or gel in strength of 0.2% hyaluronic acid sodium salt. Bionect should be applied in a thin layer without extensive rubbing onto the wound surface, two or three times per day. Cover the lesion area with a sterile gauze pad and, if necessary, with an elastic or compressive bandage. If condition worsens, consult your physician immediately. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Serious side effects include rash, itching and swelling (especially of the face, tongue or throat), severe dizziness or trouble breathing. Each tube of Bionect should be used by one patient only in order to reduce the risk of cross infection. Do not use the product after the expiration date reported on the package. No information is available with regard to pregnancy or nursing while using Bionect. Use of this drug in pediatric patients has been done experimentally.
