What is infertility?

Infertility means not being able to get pregnant after one year of trying. Or, six months, if a woman is 35 or older. Women who can get pregnant but are unable to stay pregnant may also be infertile.

Pregnancy is the result of a process that has many steps. To get pregnant:

  • A woman must release an egg from one of her ovaries (ovulation).

  • The egg must go through a Fallopian tube toward the uterus (womb).

  • A man's sperm must join with (fertilize) the egg along the way.

  • The fertilized egg must attach to the inside of the uterus (implantation).

Infertility can happen if there are problems with any of these steps.

Ovulation Induction

Bravelle® (urofollitropin injection) administered SC or IM in conjunction with hCG, is indicated for ovulation induction in patients who have previously received pituitary suppression.

Multifollicular Development during ART

Bravelle® (urofollitropin injection) administered SC in conjunction with hCG is indicated for multiple follicular development (controlled ovarian stimulation) during ART cycles in patients who have previously received pituitary suppression.

Bravelle Patient Information: Side Effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Some women using this medicine have developed a condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). This syndrome may be more likely to occur within the first 10 days after receiving the last dose in a treatment cycle. OHSS can be a life-threatening condition.

Bravelle Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used to treat certain fertility problems in women. It provides the hormone (FSH) that helps cause the ovaries to produce eggs. This medication is usually used in combination with another hormone (hCG) for the growth and release of a mature egg (ovulation).
