CANCIDAS (caspofungin acetate) is indicated in adults and pediatric patients (3 months and older) for:

  • Empirical therapy for presumed fungal infections in febrile, neutropenic patients
  • Treatment of candidemia and the following Candida infections: intra-abdominal abscesses, peritonitis and pleural space infections. CANCIDAS (caspofungin acetate) has not been studied in endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and meningitis due to Candida.

Cancidas Consumer Information: Uses

Caspofungin is used to treat a variety of serious fungal infections. It is often used in patients who cannot use or do not respond to other antifungal medications (such as amphotericin B, itraconazole). Caspofungin belongs to a class of drugs known as echinocandins. It works by stopping the growth of fungus.

HOW TO USE: This medication is usually given by injection into a vein as directed by your doctor, usually once a day. It should be injected slowly over 1 hour. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
