CAYSTON® (aztreonam) Structural Formula Illustration

CAYSTON (aztreonam for inhalation solution) ® is indicated to improve respiratory symptoms in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients below the age of 7 years, patients with FEV1 < 25% or > 75% predicted, or patients colonized with Burkholderia cepacia [see Clinical Studies].

Cayston Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used to treat people with a certain inherited condition (cystic fibrosis) who have a persistent lung infection with a certain bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa). People with cystic fibrosis produce thick, sticky mucus that can plug up the tubes, ducts and passageways in the lungs. This can result in serious breathing problems and infections in the lungs.
