DRUG DESCRIPTION

The Imovax ® Rabies l. D., Rabies Vaccine, produced by Pasteur Mérieux Sérums et Vaccins is a sterile, stable, freeze-dried suspension of rabies virus prepared from strain PM-1503-3M obtained from the Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, PA.

The virus is harvested from infected human diploid cells, MRC-5 strain, concentrated by ultrafiltration and is inactivated by beta propiolactone. One dose of reconstituted vaccine contains less than 15 mg human albumin, less than 22 µg neomycin sulfate and 3 µg of phenol red indicator. This vaccine dose is for intradermal use only.

The vaccine contains no preservative or stabilizer. It should be used immediately afer reconstitution.

The potency of Mérieux Imovax Rabies l. D., Rabies Vaccine, is equal to or greater than 2.5 International Units/ml of rabies antigen. An intradermal dose contains at least 0.25 International Units (I.U.)
