VIGIV
CONTRAINDICATIONS
While Vaccinia Immune Globulin Intravenous (Human) (VIGIV) should be considered in treatment of severe ocular complications due to vaccinia virus, VIGIV is contraindicated for use in the presence of isolated vaccinia keratitis. VIGIV should not be used in individuals with a history of anaphylaxis or prior severe systemic reaction associated with the parenteral administration of this or other human immunoglobulin preparations. 7, 8, 9 VIGIV contains trace amounts of IgA. While CNJ-016™ contains less than 40 µg/mL IgA, persons with selective IgA deficiency can develop antibodies to IgA and therefore could have anaphylactic reactions to subsequent administration of blood products that contain IgA, including VIGIV.
