What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Acyclovir (Zovirax)?
Common side effects or health problems may include:
- Oral medication
- Parenteral medication
- Inflammation or phlebitis at injection site
- Nausea and abdominal pain
- Vomiting
- Rash or hives
- Elevated transaminase levels
Other acyclovir side effects, adverse reactions, or health problems may include:
- Abdominal pain
- Aggression
- Agitation
- Anemia (low iron in the blood)
- Ataxia (a condition that causes the loss of control over body movement)
- Coma
- Confusion
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Hair loss
- Loss of appetite
- Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
- Skin swelling
