COREG CR is indicated for the treatment of mild-to-severe chronic heart failure of ischemic or cardiomyopathic origin, usually in addition to diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and digitalis, to increase survival and, also, to reduce the risk of hospitalization [see Clinical Studies].

Coreg CR Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is an alpha and beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It is also used after a heart attack to improve the chance of survival. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.
