Equagesic Prescribing Information: Indications & Dosage

As an adjunct in the short-term treatment of pain accompanied by tension and/or anxiety in patients with musculoskeletal disease. Clinical trials have demonstrated that in these situations relief of pain is somewhat greater than with aspirin alone. The effectiveness of Equagesic (meprobamate and aspirin) in long-term use, that is, more than 4 months, has not been assessed by systematic clinical studies. The physician should periodically reassess the usefulness of the drug for the individual patient

Equagesic Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used for short-term treatment of pain with anxiety or tension from muscle/bone problems. This medication should not be taken for more than 10 days at a time. Your doctor may direct you to use a different medication when you still have pain but are not anxious or tense.

This medication contains 2 drugs: aspirin and meprobamate. Aspirin is known as a salicylate and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by decreasing pain and swelling.
