font size

How does Goldenseal work?

Goldenseal contains the chemical berberine, which might prevent the bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) from binding to urinary tract walls.

Are there safety concerns?

Goldenseal seems to be safe when used as a single dose. There is not enough reliable information to know if goldenseal is safe for long-term use.

Don't use goldenseal in newborn babies. It is unsafe for them.

Do not take goldenseal if:
  • You are pregnant or breast-feeding.
