Gynazole Prescribing Information: Indications & Dosage

GYNAZOLE•1® (butoconazole nitrate) vaginal cream, 2% is indicated for the local treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (infections caused by Candida). The diagnosis should be confirmed by KOH smears and/or cultures (see Clinical Studies).

Note: GYNAZOLE•1® (butoconazole) is safe and effective in non-pregnant women; however, the safety and effectiveness of this product in pregnant women has not been established. (See PRECAUTIONS: Pregnancy.)

Gynazole Patient Information: Side Effects

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Other less serious side effects are more likely to occur, such as:

  • burning;
  • itching;
  • pelvic pain or cramps;
  • itching;
  • soreness and swelling; or
  • increased urination.

Gynazole Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used to treat vaginal yeast infections. Butoconazole reduces vaginal burning, itching, and discharge that may occur with this condition. This medication is an azole antifungal. It works by stopping the growth of yeast (fungus) that causes the infection.
