Havrix Prescribing Information: Indications & Dosage

HAVRIX (hepatitis a vaccine, inactivated) is a vaccine indicated for active immunization against disease caused by hepatitis A virus (HAV) for persons 12 months of age. Primary immunization should be administered at least 2 weeks prior to expected exposure to HAV.

You should not receive a booster vaccine if you have ever had a life-threatening allergic reaction after the first shot.

Keep track of any and all side effects you have after receiving this vaccine. When you receive a booster dose, you will need to tell the doctor if the previous shots caused any side effects.

This medication is used to help prevent infection from the hepatitis A virus. Hepatitis A infection can be mild with no symptoms or a severe illness that can rarely cause liver failure and death. Preventing infection can prevent these problems.

Hepatitis A vaccine is made from whole, killed hepatitis A virus. It does not contain live virus, so you cannot get hepatitis from the vaccine.
