Humira (adalimumab) is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and plaque psoriasis. It is also used to treat Crohn's disease after other drugs have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms. It is an injectable protein (antibody). Common side effects include redness, itching, pain, or swelling at the injection site.

The recommended dose of Humira for adult patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), or ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is 40 mg administered every other week. Pediatric dosage is determined by the child's weight. Other drugs may interact with Humira. Tell your doctor all prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements you use. During pregnancy, Humira should be used only when prescribed. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Similar drugs pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

HUMIRA (adalimumab) is indicated for reducing signs and symptoms, inducing major clinical response, inhibiting the progression of structural damage, and improving physical function in adult patients with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. HUMIRA (adalimumab) can be used alone or in combination with methotrexate or other non-biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs).

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
