Severe Primary IGF-1 Deficiency (Primary IGFD)

INCRELEX® (mecasermin [rDNA origin] injection) is indicated for the treatment of:

  • growth failure in children with severe primary IGF-1 deficiency.
  • growth hormone (GH) gene deletion who have developed neutralizing antibodies to GH.

Severe Primary IGF-1 deficiency (IGFD) is defined by:

  • height standard deviation score ≤ -3.0 and
  • basal IGF-1 standard deviation score ≤ -3.0 and
  • normal or elevated growth hormone (GH).

Increlex Patient Information: Side Effects

Get emergency medical help if your child has any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your child's face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if your child has a serious side effect such as:

  • blurred vision, headache or pain behind the eyes, sometimes with vomiting;
  • pain in the hip or knee, walking with a limp;
  • seizure (convulsions); or
  • swollen tonsils - snoring, breathing problems during sleep, ear pain, feeling of fullness in the ears, muffled hearing.
