Lindane Lotion Prescribing Information: Indications & Dosage
Lindane Lotion is indicated for the treatment of scabies (infestations of Sarcoptes scabei) only in patients who:
- cannot tolerate other approved therapies, or
- have failed treatment with other approved therapies.
Lindane Lotion should be used in the context of an overall scabies management program that includes:
- Microscopic evaluation of skin scrapings to confirm the diagnosis.

Stop using lindane topical and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an uncommon but serious side effect such as
- an allergic reaction (shortness of breath; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; or hives);
- seizures; or
- uncontrollable body shaking.

Lindane Lotion Consumer Information: Uses
This medication is used to treat scabies only after safer medications (such as permethrin or crotamiton) have failed or caused side effects. It works by killing the tiny insects (mites) and their eggs, which cause scabies. An infection with scabies is also called an infestation. This drug should not be used to prevent scabies infestation or re-infestation.
