AMOXICILLIN EXTENDED-RELEASE TABLET- ORAL
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Moxatag
USES: Amoxicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, within 1 hour of finishing a meal, usually once a day. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Do not crush or chew extended-release tablets. Doing so can release all of the drug at once, increasing the risk of side effects. Also, do not split the tablets unless they have a score line and your doctor or pharmacist tells you to do so. Swallow the whole or split tablet without crushing or chewing.
Drink plenty of fluids while using this medication unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug after the same meal at the same time each day.
Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a return of the infection.
Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
