"July 25, 2014 -- When the blood-thinner drug Pradaxa (dabigatran) was FDA-approved in 2010 to prevent stroke in people at high risk, a major selling point was that it doesn't require frequent blood tests like the old standby drug, warfarin.
Inform patients that the most frequent adverse reaction associated with nimodipine is decreased blood pressure [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS]. Inform them that use of NYMALIZE with anti-hypertensives can cause increased drop in blood pressure [see DRUG INTERACTIONS].
Patients should be aware that ingestion of grapefruit or grapefruit juice should be avoided when taking NYMALIZE due to its ability to increase nimodipine plasma concentrations and potential to increase the risk of hypotension [see DRUG INTERACTIONS].
Pregnant women should be advised that a harmful effect of NYMALIZE on the fetus cannot be ruled out and the drug should only be used if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus [see Use in Specific Populations, Pregnancy].
