ORACEA® (doxycycline) Structural Formula Illustration

ORACEA (doxycycline) is indicated for the treatment of only inflammatory lesions (papules and pustules) of rosacea in adult patients. No meaningful effect was demonstrated for generalized erythema (redness) of rosacea.

Limitations of Use

This formulation of doxycycline has not been evaluated in the treatment or prevention of infections. ORACEA (doxycycline) should not be used for treating bacterial infections, providing antibacterial prophylaxis, or reducing the numbers or eliminating microorganisms associated with any bacterial disease. Oracea Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used to treat a certain type of skin condition called rosacea. It helps to reduce the number of pimples and bumps on the face, but it may not decrease redness. Doxycycline belongs to the class of antibiotics known as tetracyclines. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that may worsen rosacea.

This product is not approved to treat other types of bacterial infections. In addition, it will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
