Virtually any disease as well as most injuries and surgical procedures involve some degree of pain. It's not surprising, then, that pain medications, also known as analgesics, are among the most commonly used drugs in the U.S. Pain can range from minor, acute complaints, such as a muscle sprain, to chronic, severe pain, such as that sometimes experienced by cancer patients. Some drugs used for other conditions also are effective at relieving certain types of pain. These drugs include certain drugs used for depression, epilepsy, and anxiety.

Parafon Forte (chlorzoxazone) is prescribed to treat musculoskeletal pain or injury. It is usually used in conjunction with rest and physical therapy. Parafon Forte is a muscle relaxant and is available in generic form. Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, light-headedness, upset stomach, or headache.
Parafon Forte is dosed in 500 mg caplets, taken orally three or four times per day. Parafon Forte may interact with cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, seizure medication, antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications. Parafon Forte may harm a fetus, and should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult your physician if you are pregnant. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
