Patanol (olopatadine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) 0.1 % is used to treat ocular (eye) symptoms of allergic conditions, such as inflammation, itching, watering, and burning. It is an antihistamine. Common side effects include headache, blurred vision, burning/stinging/redness/dryness of the eye, eyelid swelling, or a feeling as if something is in your eye.

The recommended dose of Patanol is one drop in each affected eye two times per day at an interval of 6 to 8 hours. There may be other drugs that can interact with Patanol. Tell your doctor about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor. Patanol should be used only when prescribed during pregnancy. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
