PRIFTIN (rifapentine) structural formula illustration

PRIFTIN (rifapentine) ® is indicated for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. PRIFTIN (rifapentine) must always be used in combination with one or more antituberculosis drugs to which the isolate is susceptible depending on the phase of treatment [See DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION and Clinical Studies].

Priftin Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used with other medications to treat tuberculosis (TB) of the lungs. Rifapentine is known as a rifamycin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
