REYATAZ®  (atazanavir sulfate) Structural Formula Illustration

REYATAZ®(atazanavir sulfate) is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. This indication is based on analyses of plasma HIV-1 RNA levels and CD4+ cell counts from controlled studies of 96 weeks duration in antiretroviral-naive and 48 weeks duration in antiretroviral-treatment-experienced adult and pediatric patients at least 6 years of age.

Reyataz Consumer Information: Uses

This drug is used in combination with other medications to help control your HIV infection, thereby improving your quality of life. It also lowers your risk of getting HIV disease complications (e.g., new infections, cancer). Atazanavir belongs to a class of drugs known as protease inhibitors. Atazanavir is not a cure for HIV infection, and it does not prevent the spread of HIV to others through sexual contact or blood contamination (e.g., sharing used needles).
