Replacement therapy, testosterone: The practice of giving testosterone to men when the testes do not produce enough testosterone. This may be due to absence, injury, or disease. Over supplementation has serious side effects.
Testosterone is available in oral, IV, patch forms, and implantable pellets. There is no known indication for testosterone in women, although it has been proposed as a treatment for decreased libido.
