Definition of Sensory

Sensory: Relating to sensation, to the perception of a stimulus and the voyage made by incoming (afferent) nerve impulses from the sense organs to the nerve centers.

"Sensory" also is sometimes used to refer to the senses themselves.

"Sensory" came from the Latin "sensorius" which was derived from sensus, the faculty of perceiving. The same roots gave rise to "sensation" and "sensorium."
