Definition of Little People of America
Little People of America: An organization for people of short stature whose mission is to assist dwarfs with their physical and developmental concerns resulting from short stature. By networking with other national and international growth-related and genetic-support groups, LPA works to enhance knowledge and support of short-statured individuals. Membership in LPA is offered to those people who are usually no taller than 4'10" in height. LPA was founded by in 1957 by the well-known actor Billy Barty, who was himself a little person. Today, LPA is the largest organization in the world devoted to people of short stature.
