Definition of Major anxiety disorder
Major anxiety disorder: A major disorder (Anxiety Disorders spectrum) characterized by excessive, irrational fear and dread. The major anxiety disorders are:
- panic disorder;
- obsessive-compulsive disorder;
- PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder);
- social phobia;
- specific phobias such as claustrophobia; and
- generalized anxiety disorder.
