Definition of Trismus

Trismus: Inability to open the mouth fully. This may be due to spasm of the jaw muscles and be a symptom of tetanus (lockjaw). Or it may be due to abnormally short jaw muscles, as in the trismus-pseudocamptodactyly syndrome.
