Definition of Sigmoidoscopy
Sigmoidoscopy: A procedure in which a physician inserts a viewing tube (sigmoidoscope) into the rectum for the purpose of inspecting the lower colon and rectum. If an abnormal area is detected, a biopsy can be performed.Source: MedTerms™ Medical Dictionary
