I have tried many of these type drugs and did not have the problems of muscle pain as bad as with Lipitor or Zetia. Thumbs up except for the stroke I had when my pharmacist told me it was $45.68 w/ BC/BS Insurance!!

I could not tolerate statins, zetia, or red yeast rice. Antara has not caused muscle pain or muscle weakness after one month of use. Won't know if it's effective in reducing LDL cholesterol until next blood test in another month, but I'll add that info at that time.

I took it for three years. It worked but what a cost! It sucked all the joy out of my life. I began to see immediate relief from depression within weeks of changing my medication .

While taking Antara I've become very sleepy, requiring two naps per day. Also, a feeling of weekness, and not wanting to do anything. I've not taken it for three days and I'm back to normal.

(almost killed me!) After taking for about a year with no major issues, I had to go into the hospital due to serious pain in my stomach. I always had a bad back so I never attributed my back pain to antara. After a year of taking this medicine it built up a sludge that shut down the pancreas. Two reason it's important to know this; One, this major side effect does not occur until prolonged use and many people may think they can tolerate the medication well. Two, the symptoms, back pain, acid reflux and stomach pain are so general that they are often ignored before full blown pancreatitis. FYI - pancreatitis is one of the most painful things that can happen to you.

I started Antara, and after four or five days experienced severe back pain, I Think it's my right kidney.I discontinued and most of the pain diminished but i still have some soreness. Going to the doctor to change my medication and examine my back and kidney.I hope there's no permanent damage.

I have tried others and this is the only one that works. No drug insurance and this is sooo expensive. $93 a month.

I can not tolerate statins so I tried Antara. While I did not get muscle pain, it left me nauseated and depressed. I stopped taking it because of those effectson my system.
