Botox can be a very effective treatment for urinary incontinence due to neurogenic bladder. Botox should only be tried after other less invasive methods to control incontinence have already failed. I went from being unable to refrain from urinating to being unable to urinate. After receiving Botox self-catheterization may be necessary. Botox is administered via cystoscope; the procedure is quite unpleasant. Frequent self-catheterization increases the risk for urinary tract infections. A possible side effect not listed in the PDR is constipation. A Botox treatment may remain effective for multiple months which is beneficial for those who like its effects but unfortunate for those who find its effects unpleasant.

I had tried many medications for migraines with no relief. Over the years I had gone from a couple migraines a month to one migraine every day. Botox injections were painful (after 20+ injections). There was numbness and soreness at the sites. Was told that this may or may not work. It is like any other thing out there...I feel like a guinea pig. I just really hope that someday I can get back to my migraines only being a couple times a month!

Began injections in 1998 for CD every 3 - 4 months. Side effects: flu-like symptoms which last for two weeks or more. Botox begins to wear off when pain and tremors return, then I eagerly look forward to my next scheduled injection. I use "tricks" to read, drive, and shop, but I often stay home in the few weeks that the drug has worn off. Effectiveness: Everyday activities can be performed with less anxiety due to the injections relieving pain and spams. Will continue to receive this drug that my body has happily accepted.
