I have had 3 weekly infusions and I feel great! I cannot absorb oral Iron due to my gastric bypass. However I did have a reaction with the IV so now I receive a steriod, benadryll, and then the IV iron. It takes longer but working great! Published: June 02, 2008 ::

I get a dose once a week, my counts are slowly getting better, I have seven more weeks treatment. Published: February 16, 2008 ::
At first I had tried oral iron pills...over 10 diffrent ones..then my doctor said we should try this. I was 20 when I had my first treatment, and the side effects were slim. The hardest part was getting the iv since my viens blow offten. But as in afterwards the side effect I had most common was smelling the smell of iron in my urine. Other then that I had no problems. A good treatment for me. Hope this helps someone...I know I wish I would have read something like this before I started my treatment. And the best part is it lasted 2 years before I had to do it again. Published: July 03, 2009 ::

Have become increasingly fatigued after each infusion. Fingernails are curling under. Physician is adding another med and four more infusions. Was only borderline anemic when started but after 3 infusions, am now seriously anemic since labs deteriorate each week. Published: May 04, 2009 ::

Although receiving weekly IV's for eight week programs once or twice a year for the rest of my life is difficult, the benefits of feeling well are greater than the difficulty of the treatment. As my treatments progress, I experience an overall feeling of health. Published: October 21, 2008 ::
