If I miss a dose I will feel it! I will feel sick and dizzy. I am easily nauseated when I miss a dose. Besides human error, this drug works great when used correctly.

Worked great at first, but now I have muscle weakness in my legs that I think was caused by this drug. Tired all the time, but without this drug I am told I would be dead. I would like for someone to come up with something better for Addison's than steroids so let me know if you know of a better treatment. When I get any type of sickness, my body just shuts down and I would like advice on how to prevent that.

I can say nothing but good things about my hydrocortisone and am surprised to read of others who have not been happy with it. I am chemically sensitive after having an extreme overload of mercury in my body (12 times the normal limits according to Mayo Clinic). The mercury did in the adrenals and the thyroid so I am on both hydrocortisone and Naturthroid. I dose my hydrocortisone according to my symptoms, going up or down by 2.5mg as I find it necessary, but always staying around 35 mg. Right now (it is autumn) I am getting a lot of air hunger from all the molds so I have needed to increase a bit, to 40 mg. Within 2 days I am feeling fine. I get no side effects, no moodiness nor depression and no weight gain, though I start to loose weight if I am not getting the amount I need. Other symptoms of needing more are extreme anxiousness, not sleeping well and presently the breathing problems. I am extremely thankful for my hydrocortisone. I can't imagine life without it. It is the one medication I can depend on and have not reacted to.

This medication was prescribed to me for my fainting back when I was 12. I took it for a couple months with no significant improvement. 2-3 years later, they had me try it again, also for a few months, and I dont necesarily know if it was the drug or my teenage years, but my personality completely changed/severe mood swings, weight gain, and most life altering; depression. I dont have proof, unfortunatly, but I cant help but believe that the drug is to blame for the permanent negative effects. As I read over the possible side effects, almost all of them applied to me. If anyone can relate or can provide any more information primarily pertaining to the permanent effects, I would realy appreciate your comment.

I have Congenital (from birth) Adrenal Hyperplasia. I have been on hydrocortisone since I was diagnosed at 3 days old. I'm 38 now and have developed osteoarthritis, osteoperosis, and osteonecrosis. I also have diabetes type 2 and major depressive disorder. All of these problems can be blamed on long term use of steroids. However, in a case like mine, it's either take the meds and have the problems, or not take the meds, go into adrenal failure, and die. I am not satisfied with what the drug is doing to my body but I have no other choice than to take it.

I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ADRENAL INNSUFFICENY ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO. I WAS PLACED ON HYDRCORTISONE. YEAH IT TOOK THE SYMTOMS AWAY, BUT THERE ARE DAYS I STILL FEEL LIKE CRAP. AND THE DISE EFFECTS ARE HORRIBLE. I GAINED ABOUT 30 POUNDS, I HAVE BRUSIES ALL OVER MY BODY, AND I SWEAT NON-STOP, ALL DAY EVERYDAY.. I CANT EVEN FIX UP MY HAIR TO GO OUT, WITHIN 10 MINS IT LOOKS LIKE I DIPPED MY HEAD IN A BUCKET OF WATER. BUT LIKE OTHERS SAID, U HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT CAUSE THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE BETTER THAN YOUR LIFE ITSELF. I FINALLY GET TO SEE THE SPECIALIST FOR THIS CONDITION THIS MONTH.. SO HOPEFULLY HE CAN MAKE A CHANGE OR FIGURE SOMETHING ELSE OUT. THEY FOUND THIS DISEASE BECAUSE I WOULD GO TO SLEEP AND NO ONE COULD WAKE ME UP, IT WAS LIKE I WAS IN A COMA TYPE SLEEP. I DID NOT HEAR MY KID CRY, SCREAM, HOLLAR, AND THAT REALLY SCARED ME TO DEATH.

I have addisons disease & Celiac disease. This medication has cut back on my Emergency room visits. I am very upset & disappointed over the 70 lb wieght gain over a 2 1/2 yr of trmt. I wish there was something that works minus the weight gain. I think at some point i am going to pop! & when does the weight gain stop? The dr. says atleast my levels are better. =/ that'd be true if i felt 100%. I feel robbed due to being so fatigued & irritated!
