For 3 years I suffered from migraines only during my period. I was prescribed Mircette 18 months ago, taking it every day for 3 months, then allowing a period to begin. I am now migraine free and ready to go into menopause. I may soon stop the Mircette completely. What a relief to have no more migraines. I highly recommend it!!!!! Published: September 23, 2007 ::

This pill gave me all the negative side effects and after 5 months they were still evident, if not worse. This pill gave me headaches, made me cranky, as well as creating worse menstrual cramps. Overall no. Published: February 12, 2008 ::

My doctor put me on Mircett for the purpose of controlling hormonal migraines. I was fine when I took the estrogen/progestrin pills, but one I went off of them and took the placebo pill I had a constant, and dibilitating migraine. I would not recommend this for the purpose of treating hormonal migraines. Published: January 30, 2008 ::

I was prescribed Mircette after having 3 very painful bouts of ovarian cysts, one requiring surgery. I loved this birth control. I have had severe period pain along with the cysts, and this med took me from having to take opiate pain meds for cramps to taking a few ibuprofen and hanging out on a heat pad- the difference in my pain level was amazing! And I never had any cysts on it. I didn't gain weight on this pill (I actually lost 20 pounds, but with diet and exercise) nor did it make me moody or seem to decrease my sex drive. It did, however, up my instances of migraines, which is why I cannot take it anymore. I miss this pill very much because it made my life so much easier, but now that I have complex migraines it is a big-time no-no, or so I have been told. I have had very bad reactions to other birth control pills (eg. I gained 60 pounds in one year taking Jasmin continuously to avoid having my period) and would recommend Mircette hands down. The only problem is it tends to be way more expensive than other pills ($60 a month), although the generic Kariva seemed to work just as well for me (it's still $45 though) Published: April 12, 2009 ::

I have had no problem with this pill. I'm healthy w/ no medical conditions, so I have had no side effects. This was the 1st birth control I ever took and still on it after 5 yrs. Actually I switched to generic Kariva because of the price! Periods are regular and no headaches. Have not gained weight. Published: November 25, 2008 ::

I did not care for this pill. I switched from ortho tri cyclen to this and experienced a 20 day long period plus increased vaginal secretions which made intercourse less pleasant. It did not work well for me. Published: October 25, 2007 ::

I have taken kariva for 5+ years and it has helped control my migraines and cramps. I stopped taking the week off between active pills about 3 years ago and lone no periods, though I do get some breakthrough bleeding and have increased vaginal dryness. Overall, I love this pill and it has done the job and then some. Published: January 18, 2009 ::

I have taken the generic Kariva for three months now and this pill has been great so far. I have super short (2-3 day) periods now, on ortho-tri cyclen I had 3-4 days heavy bleeding plus 4-5+ additional days with bleeding tapering off. I also started getting spotting and bleeding mid cycle. That stopped in the fist pack of Kariva. I dont get the mood swings I had with the weekly dose changes of ortho-tri and my appitite stays pretty steady. I am very happy with this pill. Published: July 03, 2009 ::

I became very moody, irritable, depressed, gained 20 pounds in two months, which was devastating after getting off Yasmin. Which I am going back on because I am sick of being tire, mad, sad, and have NO sex drive what so ever! Published: June 29, 2009 ::
