Nuva Ring has been the worst experience of my life. I've been dealing with a lot of crappy things in my life since being on it and not realizing that it was side effects until looking some stuff up the other day. I have taken it out and will not go back to it. These are the side effects I have had since going on it. 1.Extreme depression 2.No sex drive 3.Sever leg aches the day before I start my period and the day of. 4.Social Anxiety (I've always loved people and can't handle being around anyone. I feel like I'm going crazy) 5.Bad pressure in my head for a couple of days before I start 6.Hard time getting my words out correctly before period starts 7.WEIGHT GAIN! 8.Exhaustion 9.Mood Swings 10.My allergies have been worse than ever since using it. 11.I seem to get sick easier. The only thing good I experienced was the fact that it made my periods lighter, cause I tend to have heavy long periods. I think I can suffer having 8 day heavy periods over all of this crap. DO NOT USE THE RING!! Published: October 29, 2007 ::

The nuva ring has a VERY high dosage of hormones. Almost instantly I became exhausted(sleeping up to 13 hrs a day!!) I gained weight(about 10 lbs so far) and am CONSTANTLY hungry. my breasts have grown drastically and are constantly sore. I have been struggling with lack of coordination and memory loss. But by far, the worst side effect of all is EXTREME DEPRESSION. I dont even feel like myself anymore. I am usually a very outgoing person, but now I find myself staying locked up in my house all day with no social interaction. It got to the point where I was contemplating suicide. Sure, Nuvaring works, but so do condoms and oral pills. If you are sensitive to hormones, this ring is definitely not for you. Stay away from the RING!!!! Published: February 20, 2008 ::

I've been using Nuvaring for 8 years now and have had no other side effects than going from a C cup to a D cup, but no weight gain anywhere else! It's very effective and no mood swings. And my sex drive is still very much in tact- never been affected. Much lighter periods are a plus (3 days or less), no more pain with periods at all and not having to worry whether I took the pill at the right time of day every day has been a relief. DO NOT let these others reviews scare you into not trying it. Most people have little or no side effects but on a forum like this most people who write reviews are writing them because they've had bad experiences. Not saying these reviews aren't helpful, because they are- especially if you would like to know possibilites of what could happen with a med, but they are by no means the majority of reactions from the average user. People who are satisfied with the med most times don't feel a need to write a review. Published: March 25, 2009 ::

The Ring is the best birth control I've tried yet, but after 8 months, I'm ready to try something new. THE GOOD: I can just put it in and forget about it; no irrational moodiness or crying spells; no negative affect on libido; slight increase in cup size after a few months. THE BAD (And why I'm switching): I have gained 15 lbs. despite a very healthy diet and active lifestyle; my face has taken on a plump appearance; I'm thin but since starting the Ring my belly looks like I'm in the earliest stage of pregnancy, occasional nausea and lethargy THE UGLY: My face has broken out uncontrollably to the point I'm on a prescription for it. This developed about 4 months after starting the Ring. I am starting Yaz in a few days to see if it helps with my bloating and acne. Published: May 29, 2008 ::

I feel at ease after reading what other users have experiences. I have also experienced more headaches, tiredness and cramping and I have never cramped before. I am small, but my breasts also seem a little larger. I also have had weight gain and its all in my belly which really freaks me out because it makes me think I have a baby bump! My periods are a lot lighter and shorter. Almost nothing at all even in the beginning. I think I would rather have longer stronger periods then these side effects. I am going back to the pill! It was extremely simple to use; I never felt it, my boyfriend never felt it, and I didn't experience any side effects until Week 3. This happened 2 out of 3 months that I was on the Ring. Week 3 always made me feel like I was losing my mind...terrible moodiness, and I'm normally a happy person. I would get shaky and itchy, and it would feel like someone was sitting on my chest, and like my heart was pounding faster and faster. My hair began falling out in clumps every time I brushed it or washed it. My skin was completely flawless, and it reduced any bloating I previously had. It began to kill my sex drive, though, and Week 3 always turned into "anti-boyfriend" week, and makes work nearly impossible. I'm not even remotely myself. Can't sleep without OTC sleep medications, and beginning to get headaches. I never had any problems with it slipping out or getting in the way. I think I even lost a little bit of weight, which for me, wasn't the best thing. This has the lowest dose of hormones, but the adverse effects are still too bad for me to continue on it. There's nothing else I can take...lack of birth control kills my boyfriend's sex drive (out of fear), so the inability to tolerate the hormones in this "last resort" form of birth control will be seriously affecting both of our lives...
