My 18 mth old was prescribed this medication for the Croup. He took it at 5:30 pm & by 11:00 pm he was writhing ariund on the floor screaming & hitting us, which is VERY uncommon for him. My Dr. did not tell us that this could happen or else I never would have given it to him. My husband brought him to the ER at 11:45 pm thinking our son was hallucinating while I was at home worried sick. NOT WORTH IT!!! Use a humidifier & the steam from the shower!

Like the other children I have read about on this page our doc prescribed it for three days for croup....oh my gosh, after two we stopped...it was not helping and worse than that our sweet little 21 month old turned into a wild animal...she was biting, throwing herself, crying for no reason, not eating, screaming at us and pushing kids down, and the next minute was exhausted. She will not sleep and lays in her bed and cries... This was quite a shock. We had heard the stories but until you live it you can't understand...My question now is how long does it stay in their system??? Never again!!!

Pirked my 19 month old daughter up from a virus almost instantly, as for the reaction... lets just say its 12:30 a.m., and she is runing around screaming and taking pictures of everything! Iv never seen this happen. its hard not to laugh, but im kind of upset that the doc. didnt say anything about it. Wont give again.

OMG. My two children (30 month and 18 month olds) each had allergic reaction to insect bites while vacationing out of town. The Dr. at the local hospital prescribed the prednisolone for 7 days. We stopped at two and a half. It stopped the swelling which had swollen the 18 month old's eye shut but the fits and tyrades were out of control. My happy go lucky 30 month old had a screaming/crying fit while driving for over 50 miles. I wanted to jump out of the moving car. The medicine definitely works but I wonder if its worth the kids' reactions. I wonder if there is a better drug?

Our 4 year old still had a bad double ear infection after seven days on meds. Our allergist recommended it, but said she would be "wild". She was upside down and hanging from everything for 6 days. She even put crackers up her nose! We trusted our doctors judgement and did the best we could with the crazy behavior.

My 3 yr. old daughter was given this when she has croup. I didn't notice any effectiveness for her croup. After taking it 4 days she was up all night complaining mouth was sore. Sure enough, little white bumps all over the inside of her cheeks and throat. I was enraged finding that my daughter then had thrush...being someone who has suffered from thrush as an adult, one of the worst pains I have ever felt besides childbirth!! After researching online, I found out that this medication can cause thrush, no thanks to the dr. for giving us any info about it. So upset, it's been one thing after another for my daughter. I would not use this again. My son is also taking it for croup, we'll see if he'll be getting thrush too.

My 24 m/o was prescribed this yesterday for swollen tonsils. Just after the second dose he went absolutely insane. SCREAMING, yelling, hitting, throwing and then he just stopped for a few minuets. He stopped after we give him gas drops. After a while he would start all over. Never again.
