This medication worked like a miracle compared to past drugs tried. but then my insurance made me switch to a generic form, and it is not even close to being as good as the brand name protonix. I find a lot of my troubles have started to come back for the first time in years. I have been under treatment for over 20 years now, so have many treatments to compare this too. I wish the insurance compant would have less control over our medical care , and leave the choice to our Doctors, and us. Published: March 28, 2008 ::

This is the ONLY medication that has properly addressed my acid reflux issues, especially the endless nagging cough and throat clearing. I tried several others (Nexium, Prilosec, etc)and had to fight with my insurance company to get this more expensive drug approved. This may work for yo where other treatments have failed Published: October 09, 2007 ::

I thought I was having angina symptons, my chest and my back between my shoulder blades hurt and "burned". Stress test was OK, doc gave me Protonix, no more symptons at all. No tums, rolaids or anything else needed. I have had GERD for several years and this stuff worked wonders for me. Published: June 04, 2008 ::

Been on it for a while now I think it's working ok. I was feeling really tired, period of dizziness, shortness of breath, and chest pain. Went to the doctor found out I had Iron Deficiency Anemia. Proton pump inhibitors can cause this due to lack of absorption of iron and B12. Doc. put me on iron, B12 and vitamin C. Feeling a lot better. Published: October 26, 2008 ::

Switched from Zegerid to Protonix. Drug store gave me the generic form. It's working just ok. Wondering if the name brand might be better. Anyone having numbness and tingling in the extremities, shortness of breath, fatigue, memory loss, white spots on the skin, constipation or diarrhea should have their B12 and Folate checked. These proton pump inhibitors after extended use can cause you to become B12 deficient. Everyone using these drugs should have this checked. Please google B12 deficiency and read symptoms and what this deficiency can lead to if not gotten under control. Some doctors are dumb as dirt and don't suggest this. Especially with older patients. I had been on this for 3 years for Barrett's. My last scope revealed the Barrett's is gone. Recently stopped taking it because I heard it causes osteoporosis, but had not side effects. It worked great. Published: June 05, 2008 ::

I was diagnosed with Acute Gastritis. My dr. prescribed me Protonix to reduce the acid production in my stomach and to reduce the risk of and ulcer occurring. The irritation in my stomach decreased and the pains slowly stopped. There were no side effects other then dry mouth. It really has made my life easier and less painful. Published: July 29, 2008 ::
