First outbreak of genital herpes lasted over 2 weeks. I was in great pain and using the toilet was agony. The blisters would sting like crazy and burn. My whole body was run down and no energy. After being informed of my situation, I thought my dating life was over. I was prescribed Valtrex. At first it didn't make to much of a difference to me, but as time has passed I no longer experience any outbreaks. When I say time, I talk about three months. Newly diagnosed with herpes and very upset. It seems as if the medication, Valtrex, is not working as fast as I expect. No visible sores, but itching and burning comes and goes. i got herpes when i was 19, now twenty6. i love this stuff. i take it daily, every 4 to 5 months i will skip a few weeks, just so im not so aggravated anymore. I have had genital herpes since i was 13 and am now 22. Since then i have only had 3 outbreaks since then.. If i stop taking it i have outbreaks. But have not had any on the meds. I also have had no side effects as well. Published: October 11, 2008 ::

This medicine is a miracle!!! I have been outbreak free for over a year. My first outbreak had me in agony, my tip for making going to the bathroom bearable is to take a couple of 3 inch gauze pads, soak them with Bactine first aid liquid, then wipe affected area.
