The key to this med is PMDD. Go online, track your symptoms, and talk to your doctor after 2 months of solid tracking. If you don't have PMDD, don't take it. I have PMDD & have had GREAT results with it. It took about three months to completely balance my hormones. But since, my mood is better, cramps are better, brest tenderness & swelling is gone, fatigue is gone. Acne was never an issue with me, but I have noticed that the small breakouts I used to get before my period have stopped. I love it! But, the things I stress w/ this med are: 1. DO YOUR RESEARCH -- this is not a pill for someone just looking for BC; 2. TRACK YOUR SYMPTOMS -- this will help your doctor and yourself see if it's just PMS, or PMDD; 3. TRY DIFFERENT TIMES TO TAKE THE PILL -- I had to experiment with taking the pill in the a.m., at lunch, and before bed. Find out what works best for your schedule and body. I extensively tracked my symptoms and researched many different kinds of birth control before getting an expert opinion as to what to take. Be informed before taking anything!! Decreased mood swings, acne, and bloating found with other birth control pills. No weight gain either. Published: September 21, 2007 ::

The only plus-side of this drug is that it's kept me from getting pregnant. Otherwise, out of the 5 or 6 other brands of BCP's I've used over the past 15 years, this is by far the worst one for causing unwanted side-effects. My body feels awful - it's almost as if I have the flu. I'm achy, exhausted, continously sleepy, and my sinuses stay congested (my allergies have gotten worse). Plus, my fingers and ankles have stayed swollen, and I've felt bloated in general. A massive increase in my appetite has caused me to gain 15lbs in 1 month, and I also feel emotionally drained and depressive. I'm usually a pretty chipper person, but for the past 3 weeks on this drug, I've had the urge to cry for no obvious reason on a daily basis. Plus, it's destroyed my sex drive, so on that note, the need for birth control hasn't even been an issue! Thus, I'm switching back to my old pill, Ortho Novum 7/7/7 after I finish out my current pack of Yaz. Published: October 10, 2007 ::

I had horrible PMS and saw all of the ads about this "wonderful" new drug. My moods worsened, I became severly depressed and had suicidal thoughts. Took my last pill last week and switching to orto-tr-cyclin. Hope it has success with others but made me absolutely miserable. Published: October 06, 2007 ::

i have been on yaz for almost a year and as i've read these reviews, im guessing that not all of you are taking it for the right reasons. i requested to be on this medication because i was diagnosed with PMDD. so far this medication has prevented pregnancy and improved my PMDD symptoms. my face is clear and my back pain has dramatically decreased. i havent gained weight and my appitite hasnt changed. i wouldnt recommend this medication if you dont have PMDD. i do and i love this medicine. I am experiencing nausea, vomiting, stomch pain and am always tired. This is the first time I have used the pill and am wondering if these symptoms are ever going to go away. I feel horrible. Is anyone else experiencing this with YAZ? Published: December 16, 2007 ::

I have been on YAZ for almost 2 years. Yaz has cleared up my face. I do not have my period long, however, I usually dont have my period until AFTER the 4 white pills. My fingers, toes and ankle just started swelling this week. I did go up 2 pant sizes and have gained about 20-30 LBS. in the 2 years. I am always eating and never feel full. I have mood swings and cry for no reason as well as argue with people. I have been more depressed the past 8-10 months (more noticeable now). I am always tired and sluggish through the day. I dont have problems sleeping at night with YAZ. I take the pill in the mornings, that may contribute to me not having problems sleeping at night. I was happy when first starting YAZ because I switch from Seasonale and I was breaking out real bad. I did not gain much weight on Seasonale. Published: December 09, 2007 ::

Before I started Yaz, I had heavy periods, cramping, SEVERE mood swings, anxiety and acne. Also the week before my periods I had fatigue to the extent where I physically and emotionally couldn't do my job. After taking Yaz I saw a total improvement in every one of my symptoms. Now I am not moody at all and have come to realize that I really do think that I had PMDD. At first I did not even know that Yaz helped acne until I saw the commercial, I then understood why with in 3 months of being on it my acne was completely gone. The only thing that Yaz didn't do for my was reduce my periods to 4 days. It did make my periods shorter by a few days and also much lighter. I really am satisfied with Yaz and I do recommend it!
