The causes of musculoskeletal pain are varied. Muscle tissue can be damaged with the wear and tear of daily activities. Trauma to an area (jerking movements, auto accidents, falls, fractures, sprains, dislocations, and direct blows to the muscle) also can cause musculoskeletal pain. Other causes of pain include postural strain, repetitive movements, overuse, and prolonged immobilization. Changes in posture or poor body mechanics may bring about spinal alignment problems and muscle shortening, therefore causing other muscles to be misused and become painful.
People with musculoskeletal pain sometimes complain that their entire bodies ache. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch or burn. Symptoms vary from person to person, but the common symptoms are:

Talwin Nx (pentazocine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride, USP) is used to treat moderate to severe pain. It contains 2 medications, pentazocine, a narcotic pain reliever (opiate-type), and naloxone, an opioid antagonist, which helps to prevent misuse of this drug by blocking the effect of pentazocine. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, increased sweating, or dry mouth.
The dosage is based on the individual patient's medical condition and response to treatment. Talwin Nx may adversely interact with naltrexone, sibutramine, fluoxetine, MAO inhibitors, alcohol, anti-seizure drugs, medicine for sleep or anxiety, muscle relaxants, psychiatric medicines or any medication that may cause drowsiness or affect breathing. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when prescribed. Using it near the expected delivery date is not recommended because of possible harm to the fetus. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Infants born to mothers who have used this medication may have withdrawal symptoms such as irritability, abnormal/persistent crying, vomiting, or diarrhea. Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of these symptoms in your newborn. It is unknown if this product passes into breast milk. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before breast-feeding. Do not stop using Talwin Nx suddenly after long-term use, or you could have withdrawal symptoms.
