Taxol (paclitaxel) is a cancer chemotherapy medication that interferes with the growth of cancer cells and slows their growth and spread in the body. Paclitaxel is used to treat breast cancer, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer. It is also used to treat AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma. The drug is given through an intravenous infusion administered in a hospital or clinic. Side effects can include increased blood pressure, fever, skin warmth or redness, slow heart rate, and others.
Paclitaxel should not be administered to a pregnant woman. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Use effective birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.
