What is the brain?

The brain is a soft, spongy mass of tissue. It is protected by the bones of the skull and three thin membranes called meninges. Watery fluid called cerebrospinal fluid cushions the brain. This fluid flows through spaces between the meninges and through spaces within the brain called ventricles.

A network of nerves carries messages back and forth between the brain and the rest of the body. Some nerves go directly from the brain to the eyes, ears, and other parts of the head. Other nerves run through the spinal cord to connect the brain with the other parts of the body. Within the brain and spinal cord, glial cells surround nerve cells and hold them in place.

The brain directs the things we choose to do (like walking and talking) and the things our body does without thinking (like breathing). The brain is also in charge of our senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell), memory...

Temodar Patient Information including If I Miss a Dose

What happens if I miss a dose (Temodar)?

Contact your doctor if you miss a dose or forget to take your temozolomide.

What happens if I overdose (Temodar)?

Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Taking temozolomide for more than 5 days in a row can cause life-threatening overdose.

Overdose symptoms may include fever, pale skin, increased thirst, dry skin, easy bruising or bleeding, confusion, weakness, and urinating less than usual or not at all.

What should I avoid while taking temozolomide (Temodar)?

Avoid being near people who have colds, the flu, or other contagious illnesses. Contact your doctor at once if you develop signs of infection.

What other drugs will affect temozolomide (Temodar)?

Before taking temozolomide, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs:

carbamazepine (Carbatrol, Tegretol);
divalproex sodium (Depakote);
phenytoin (Dilantin);
valproic acid (Depakene, Depacon);
steroids (prednisone and others); or
a sulfa drug such as Bactrim, Septra, Cotrim, or SMX-TMP.

This list is not complete and there may be other drugs that can interact with temozolomide. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
