Temovate Gel Prescribing Information: Indications & Dosage

TEMOVATE Gel (clobetasol propionate gel) is a superhigh potency corticosteroid formulation indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Treatment beyond 2 consecutive weeks is not recommended, and the total dosage should not exceed 50 g/week because of the potential for the drug to suppress the hypothalamic-pituftary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Use in pediatric patients under 12 years of age is not recommended.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if you have severe irritation of any treated skin, or if you show signs of absorbing clobetasol topical through your skin, such as:

  • blurred vision, or seeing halos around lights;
  • mood changes;

Temovate Gel Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., eczema, dermatitis, allergies, rash). Clobetasol reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. This medication is a very strong (super-high-potency) corticosteroid.
