Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a combination medication used to treat high blood cholesterol. The ezetimibe component of Vytorin lowers blood cholesterol by blocking the absorption of cholesterol. The simvastatin component of Vytorin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, commonly called statins. Side effects of Vytorin may include headache, nausea, and vomiting.
Vytorin is administered in oral tablet form in the evenings once per day. Numerous other drugs may interact with Vytorin. Vytorin should not be combined with drugs that decrease its elimination, such as erythromycin, ketoconazole, itraconazole, and clarithromycin. Vytorin should not be taken by pregnant women or nursing mothers.
Our Vytorin Drug Center provides a comprehensive view of available drug information as well as related drugs, user reviews, supplements and disease and conditions.
