Zosyn (piperacillin and tazobactam for injection) is indicated for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe infections caused by piperacillin-resistant, piperacillin/tazobactam-susceptible, β-lactamase producing strains of the designated microorganisms in the specified conditions listed below:

Zosyn Injection Consumer Information: Uses

This medication is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This medication is a combination of 2 drugs. Piperacillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Tazobactam is an enzyme inhibitor (beta-lactamase inhibitor) that helps the piperacillin work better.
