Definition of Atrophic Vaginitis

Atrophic vaginitis is the thinning of the lining (endothelium) of the vagina due to decreased production of estrogen. Atrophic vaginitis may occur with menopause. Vaginal atrophy is another name for atrophic vaginitis.
