Ringworm - Tinea unguium or onchomycosis is a chronic fungal infection of the nails. It is normally caused by the dermatophyte fungus. The nails grow very thick and turn white or yellow. Treatment is by antifungal drugs, taken as tablets. To ensure that the infection is cleared, the drugs may have to be taken for up to a year.
