Seabather's itch, also called seabather's eruption, is a burning, itching rash that can occur when a swimmer gets stung by tiny thimble jellyfish, often mistakenly referred to as sea lice. The larvae get trapped in the fabric of the bathing suit and sting the swimmer. The problem is common between May and August along the southeast coast of the United States, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.
