What Is Forskolin and How Does It Work?

Forskolin is a herbal supplement which can be used as a natural remedy for treatment in cancer, obesity, glaucoma, allergies and asthma, heart failure, intestinal spasms, painful cramps during your period (dysmenorrhea), irritable bowel syndrome, urinary tract infection, high blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain (angina), difficulty falling asleep (insomnia) and convulsions.

Small clinical studies indicate obesity reduction potential as well as asthma prevention.

Forskolin is available under the following different brand names: coleus forskohlii, colforsin, makandi, maohouqiaoruihua, and pashanabhedi.

Dosages of Forskolin

Should Be Given As Follows

Oral

  • 100-300 mg/day orally of extract containing 10-20% forskolin

Inhalation

  • 10 mg of forskolin powder using a Spinhaler inhalator for Asthma.

Warnings

This medication contains forskolin. Do not take coleus forskohlii, colforsin, makandi, maohouqiaoruihua, or pashanabhedi, if you are allergic to forskolin or any ingredients contained in this drug.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

Contraindications

Do no use simultaneously with anticoagulants, antihypertensive, vasodilators, or if suffering from ulcers, diabetes and when pregnant or breastfeeding.

There are no effects of drug abuse associated with the use of forskolin.
