What is Deconex and how is it used?
Deconex is a prescription medicine used to treat symptoms of Nasal Congestion, Cough and Bronchial Irritation. Deconex may be used alone or with other medications.
Deconex belongs to a class of drugs called Cough/Cold, Non-narcotic Combos; Antitussive/Decongestant/Expectorant Combos.
It is not known if Deconex is safe and effective in children younger than 4 years of age.
What are the possible side effects of Deconex?
Deconex may cause serious side effects including:
- hives,
- difficulty breathing,
- swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
- fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat,
- severe anxiety, and
- nervousness
Get medical help right away, if you have any of the symptoms listed above.
The most common side effects of Deconex include:
- dry mouth, nose, or throat,
- upset stomach,
- loss of appetite,
- vomiting,
- excitement (especially in children),
- restlessness (especially in children),
- sleep problems,
- headache, and
- dizziness
Tell the doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away.

- helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes and make coughs more productive
- nasal congestion
- reduces swelling of nasal passages

Directions
Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Adults and children 12 years of age and over: | 1 capsule every 4 hours, not to exceed 6 capsules in 24 hours. |

- if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you do not know if your prescription drug contains an MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Ask a doctor before use if you have
- a cough that lasts or is chronic such as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or
emphysema
- a cough that occurs with too much phlegm (mucus)
- heart disease
- high blood pressure
- thyroid disease
- diabetes
- trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland
Stop use and ask a doctor if
- nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occur
- cough or nasal congestion persists for more than 1 week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, rash, or persistent headache.
- A persistent cough may be a sign of a serious condition.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control
